FixAndTest is a small, independent project that builds simple tools to check and fix everyday devices: phone speakers, headphones, microphones and screens.
Most device problems are easy to diagnose if you have the right test at hand. Is the left earbud really dead, or is it a balance setting? Is that dot on the monitor a dead pixel or a speck of dust? Is the speaker broken, or just wet? Our goal is to answer questions like these in seconds, without installing an app.
How our tools work
Every tool on this site runs entirely in your web browser using standard technologies such as the Web Audio API. When a tool uses your microphone or camera, the signal is processed on your device and is never uploaded to a server.
Our principles
- Useful first. Each tool does one job well and explains what the result means.
- Honest. We say clearly what a tool can and can't do. A cleaning tone can help with water in a speaker; it can't repair a broken one.
- Fast and light. Pages load quickly, even on slow mobile connections.
